What is the best way to thaw the product?
We recommend placing the product in the refrigerator overnight to thaw. Alternatively, you can use room-temperature water in the sink for faster thawing. To make things easier, try to defrost more than one day's worth of meals at a time. This way, you can stay ahead and always have raw meals prepped for your dog.
Important: We strongly advise against using the defrost setting on a microwave, as it can compromise the quality of the product
How long will the product last thawed in the refrigerator?
The product will typically remain fresh for 3–5 days when stored in the refrigerator, depending on the refrigerator’s temperature and the defrosting method used.
Important: Products containing green tripe may have a naturally strong smell, but they should never smell like ammonia. If you detect an ammonia odor, the product is no longer safe to feed and should be discarded immediately.
How long will the product stay good in the freezer?
Our raw products can be safely stored in the freezer for 6 to 12 months. However, we recommend aiming to use the product within 6 months to minimize the risk of freezer burn.
While freezer burn doesn’t make the food unsafe to feed, it can slightly alter the taste for your dog. Freezer-burned meat often has an iced appearance and a frozen smell but is still perfectly fine to serve.
What if the product thawed a little before it got to me?
If your product arrives slightly thawed, rest assured it is still perfectly safe to use. Simply place it in the freezer to refreeze, and it will be ready for use when needed.
